Dear Wadebridge friends —
We are delighted to be able to share some fantastic news: following the recent closure of Caraways Café on Polmorla Walk, this much-loved space has now re-opened under a fresh name to celebrate a new and exciting chapter in its life history — Maison Cà Phê.
The name Maison Cà Phê combines two cultures, French and Vietnamese — "Maison" is the French word for “house” or “home”, and “Cà Phê” the Vietnamese name for coffee. Together they mean “The Coffee House”, not just a physical space, but a reflection of a shared history, hospitality, and flavour. The connection between Vietnam and France is complex, yet rich in creativity and cultural fusion :
The French introduced coffee and baguettes to Vietnam, but it was the Vietnamese spirit that transformed them. Coffee became a daily ritual — slow, strong, sweetened with condensed milk, and always shared. The baguette evolved into bánh mì — a light, crispy sandwich filled with grilled meats and patê, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and bold sauces, now one of Vietnam’s most popular street foods.
At Maison Cà Phê we aim to bring the essence of this vibrant café culture to Wadebridge, celebrating the Vietnamese warmth, flavour, and craft while also honouring the welcoming spirit that Caraways Café has offered to the community for over 25 years.
Alongside our traditional Vietnamese Phin-brewed coffee, we will continue to serve classic Italian-style coffee using the same espresso machine and beans the you have come to know and love. Our menu will also feature:
We cannot wait to welcome you to our new home, a home inspired by the cafés of Saigon, the kitchens of Hanoi, and the warm, welcoming spirit that so characterises Wadebridge.
We look forward to seeing you soon —The Maison Cà Phê Team
